Piggy Paint review & discount code

I received a couple of polishes for review from the sweet Laurie of Piggy Paint, from their new project Earth collection.
Piggy Paint nail polishes are directed towards children. As per the information provided by Laurie, they are they are non-toxic.& not just big-3 free, they are water based, eco-friendly polishes. The new Project Earth line is made for tweens, 5 neons(!) and a glow in the dark polish(!!!)
They have received the Excellence Award from Safbaby.com and now proudly have received their seal of approval as an approved Vendor of Mom approved-child tested products.

When I opened the package, the first thing I noticed was that the peanuts were of all different sizes and shades. They use 100% reused peanuts from their local community to ship products, some serious eco-friendliness they got here :)

Onto the polishes. The first polish is 'Solar Power' , the neon yellow from Project Earth. This was the first time I am photographing a neon, so be kind, lol!
I used 3 thin coats in the swatch, & there was still VNL, but I doubt tweens & kiddies would mind that. Application was smooth. Yellows are usually streaky, but not this one.
I had a hard time capturing the color :( It kept photographing as a banana yellow, when in fact it's an ultra-bright highlighter yellow. The third pic, though blurred, shows the neon-ness(?) the best.

This is 'Radioactive' , the glow-in the dark polish. Now, I am a sucker for gimmicky stuff, so I loved this one. No swatch photos, cuz I tried photographing in the dark, & the pix would just appear totally black. The glowing is not ultra-strong, but the effect becomes stronger and stronger with each coat. The polish gives a soft white color to the nails when it's not dark . It looks smooth, but when you touch it it feels slightly grainy, which I assume is due to the glow-in-the-dark particles.

Anyways, LOVE this polish, but I am partial to glow-in-the-dark stuff :P
& now for the nice part. A discount code to Piggy Paint especially for my readers! When you use the coupon code CHAIN10L , you will get 10% off on all purchases including items on sale! Spend over $35, & domestic shipping is free! Expiration Date for the code: July 31st, 2010.

Plan 2 order from Transdesign CANCELLED

So I told you just yesterday, about how I'm finally gonna order from Transdesign. I was soooooo happy. & just today, I read this post from AllYouDesire. Transdesign has stopped offering international flat rate shipping! Boo! :'(  This is pretty sad for all of us nail bloggers living outside the U.S. *stamps feet* I want pretty American polishes dammit!
I'm considering 8ty8beauty now....have you ordered from there yet? How was your experience with 8ty8?
EDIT: I emailed 8ty8 beauty sometime ago & got an email telling me that they do not ship to India! *wails* What am I to do now???????

Monday

Nail Mail, & so awesome!

Sorry for so many posts, but there's a lotta stuff I need to catch up on :P

So all these days, I was cursing the people over at speedpost and FedEx & what not, cuz all my packages were disappearing! Today, however 3 of them arrived. These were probably the ones that were missing due to delay of flights in Europe. 2 of these packages were the prizes of the giveaways I won, i.e., Danica's contest and Jade's giveaway. It's so burning hot here, the packages were also heated when they arrived. Yikes :P

This is the package I got from Danica. Wanna guess how many of these were extras? All except 4 of them!!! I was only supposed to get 4 but she sent me 9 extras, mahnnn! Icluding the awesome franken she made(the one in a Seche Vite bottle) Isn't she the best?! & do you see Orly Calypso Breeze, I've been wanting that one for so long, & it was so nice finding that in the package!!!!!!!!! I'm wearing that right now :)Thank you a gazillion times, Danica!

This one was from Jade. The polishes are way more gorgeous IRL. Both the Gosh polishes were major lemmings of mine, so I'm super happy right now!!!!!!!!! They are soooo beautiful. And the extra polish she sent: My first China Glaze, wooohooooo!!!!!!!!(Not pictured, but she also sent me a smash box primer. But the heat did something weird to it, it became extremely thick, almost gone, and sort of brown. I told you it is freaking hot here, the temperature is about 45°C(113°F). Stupid global warming) Anyways, did I tell you the Gosh polishes are absolutely gorgeous? ;) Thank you tons, Jade!

Oh, & also not pictured are the yummy candies cuz I already ate em. Ha!

I received a third package too, but that's for another post.

My nail polish collection doubled today, Now it's big enough to call it a 'stash', I think, lol! Thank you so much Danica and Jade, you both are seriously generous and totally awesome!

Chimera review (part 2)

This is part 2 of the Chimera review.
For part 1, go HERE.

Shown are 2 coats of each color, except no.16(middle) which was 3 coats.

from thumb to pinkie:

No. 108: One of my favorites from Chimera, this had the smoothest application of all, & I could have gotten away with one thicker coat. It is much brighter IRL and seems hot pink in some kinds of  lighting. Formula on this one was amazing!

No. 55: Already reviewed in part one.

No. 16. This need at least 3 coats, & there was still VNL, but nevertheless, this was my very favourite out of all the polishes I got. It's a jelly(!) plumish-maroon base with a medium amount of holographic glitter. & it's soooo glossy even without top coat, I love it! But for those of you who don't like doing multiple coats, this one isn't for you.

No. 69: It's very vivid in the bottle, but on the nail, not so much. It would look better on someone with paler skin.. It has a medium purple base with blue shimmer. Although the base purple leans red, the blue shimmer causes the color to lean blue overall.

No.130: The star of the bunch.A true red base with lots of gold shimmer/glitter, cant make out which. The particles are too large to be shimmer, but too small to be called glitter. A very unique and gorgeous color. My 2nd favorite. It would have been my favorite, but this one bubbled on me, nothing a top coat couldn't hide, but still, the bubbling disappointed me a bit. Anyways, very beautiful, & I did a full manicure with 3 coats,to eliminate any VNL:

LOVE!(click the pic to enlarge and see the beauty of this polish)

So, have you tried this brand before?
If not, buy them HERE.

Chimera Nail Polish review and swatches(part 1)

Today, I have a review on a new to me and probably new to you Australian brand of  nail polish, Chimera.  I received 7 nail polishes and a bottle of their quick dry top coat.
Have a look!

They arrived bubble wraped in this goodie bag.

They don't have names, just numbers on the bottle. But on their website, they do have names.
(As I told you, I'm in the process of moving to another city, so the nail polishes are already packed, & I don't remember the numbers, for some of them, so sorry :( Later this month, when we unpack them, I'll update the post and label all the nail polishes. For now, enjoy the swatches.)

First up, my least favourite of the bunch.
This one is a rust-ish color with gold shimmer. I do like the color, I think I do, I'm not really sure. But the frosty finish made it my least favourite. Application was average, but opaque in 2 coats.

This one is No. 121, lol, I remember!
This is a one coater blackened silver glitter, yay! The 'blackened' character of the polish can be seen in the first photo. I really liked this one, quite a glam color. The formula was a little on the thicker side, but it's a one-coater, so I'm not complaining. <3 <3 <3

Next up is no. 69

A 2 coater metallic blue. Incredibly glossy, but not a terribly unique color. It is pretty though, and seems lit from within, something I have found to be common in most metallic blues. Application was the best out of these three.

In part two, you'll see the better half of the bunch of I received, Including my 2 favorites!

You can buy Chimera on their website here.

Saturday

Ardell Fake Lashes

I was sent various products by Alanna at AII beauty for review(in case you are thinking, nope, no China Glaze). First up, the fake eyelashes.
Before I get to that, I would like to tell all of you that I'm in the process of moving to another city. I'm moving on Monday, so this will probably be my last or second last post for a while, till I get my new internet connection there. I'll try to pop in to say hi, so you know I've not disappeared :P

Ok, now to the review. This was my first try at fake eyelashes, ever. I've never felt the need to do so, as I'm pretty much happy with the length of my natural ones. But when I was offered to try and review them, I was like, hmmm, why not, there's always a first time. Plus, I was curious. So I went ahead =)

The first pic is without the fake eyelashes.

So yesterday was my prom, or the Std 10 farewell, as we call it. What a perfect time to try the eyelashes. I tried the Naomi ones, as that seemed the safest option for a first try. The pack comes with one pair of eyelashes, without the glue, so you need your own one.
(sorry for the craptastic quality of these pic :( The prom was in the evening, so obviously there wasn't proper natural light, and I was already getting late. Next time, I promise better quality photos )
I was very very happy with the result =))))))))) I'm glad I chose this style, they looked soooo cute! Even my mom went 'wow'! I was scared these would be hard to use, but that wasn't the case, thankfully.

And a photo of the sari I wore for the farewell, believe me when I say that the pic does it no justice. The golden embroidery was really standing out beautifully, I wish I could show you how it looked IRL.
(& yeah, you really didn't think I was gonna show you my face, did you? lol)

Once again, I say, this pic does no justice :L

Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics Review =))))))))))

The very sweet Andrea from Cheeky Monkey cosmetics sent me some of their polishes for review.
Here is a little info about the company:
''Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics is centered on the belief that all women should be free to express their personal edginess in a fun and empowering way. Our products act as a tool, providing an avenue and philosophy to engage, explore or rediscover the edginess that animates all of us."

I can't babble right now cuz I can't resist going straight over to the polishes:

POUR ME ONE
From left to right: 3 coats, 2 coats, 1 coat.
Beautiful happy red color! It's not exactly a creme, not really a jelly either, I would say it's a creamy jelly( :P) But I think there will be dupes of this out there. Applies smoothly. One of the best formula in nail polish that I've ever come accross.

COME HITHER
From left to right: 3 coats, 2 coats, 1 coat
This color is sooo gorgeous.......! & my first jelly, I'll always treasure it <3 <3 <3. I had a tough time capturing it since it was so shiny & glossy, the color just wouldn't show, all you could see was the white reflection, haha. But I managed to get a color accurate photo, yay!

ONE NITE STAND
From left to right: 3 coats, 2 coats
As you can see, it was opaque in 2 coats. I just applied 3 to see if it made a difference, but it did not. I think I preferred the formula in the others better. This was also good, but not as much as the other three. I think the color is pretty cute, a sweet pink with shimmer. I don't have anything even close to this color in my *tiny* stash. It is so cuteee!

RAUNCHY BITCH
All fingers have 2 thin coats.
Awesome name, & an even better color. One of the most gorgeous polishes I've seen. My camera kept photographing it more blue that it was, so I edited the photo with photopad to get it color accurate. But this color is much much more vibrant and bright IRL.
At first I thought it would be a really dupable color, metallic blue, plenty of em out there, right? Wrong! I have 2 other metallic blues, but they are blue base with blue shimmer. Raunchy Bitch is purple base with blue shimmer. In fact I dunno why they have described it as metallic blue, I would call it a blurple.

I couldn't choose my favourite out of them. I love Come Hither, One Nite Stand and Raunchy Bitch! Come Hither, cuz it's my first jelly, One Nite Stand is just too cute , and Raunchy Bitch is an incredibly gorgeous lit-from-within color. I like Pour Me One too, but it's just not a must-have in my opinion, but it is a nice-to-have, I guess, if already don't have a million reds in your stash. The brushes were nice and easy to handle, I love their neat yet funky botlle with cool graphics.Dry time, ummm, not so good, they do take a while to dry, but nothing that quick dry TC can't fix.

Short review on their top coat and base coat:(sorry, no pics)
I Like It On top(top coat):  Dries glossy, but takes too long to dry, I wish it was quick-dry :(
Wet Dream(Base coat): This one really worked for me, I would probably purchase it it again =)

Wear test was done with 1 coat of Wet dream, 2 coats of Raunchy Bitch and 1 coat of I Like It On Top. Very good results, not extra-ordinary, but better than most other brands, I wore it for 3 days, very minor tip wear by the evening of the 3rd day, not bad at all =)

Now if only I can sell a couple of my paintings, I will buy more of these polishes. And believe me, that's saying a lot, cuz I hardly ever buy stuff on the net, only done so twice in my life.

You can buy these polishes here. They ship internationally! *happy dance*

Saturday

Incoco 24 Karats

Today I have a review on Incoco Dry nail Applique in '24 Karats' which is a part of their Glitter Manicure collection of colors. And let me tell you, they have a great selection of shades, I'm wanting more than half of them, especially the neons!
Incoco are basically dry nail polish strips for those of us who don't want to wait for polish to dry, and of course those who find it difficult to paint nails. I'm neither, but I still adore this product!
24 Karats is a beautiful gold glitter that goes CRAZY in the sun, it's so freaking glittery and shiny, I couldn't stop staring at it!
Each Incoco kit comes with nail polish strips, which are enough for one manicure. But my nails are really short, so each strip was enough for 2 whole manicures. And even after that, I still had 4 strips left which I cut into many curved pieces and used them as funky nail tips(second photo)!
Both the photos are indoors. I tried to photograph them in the sun, but it was impossible, it was too shiny.

I have entered this second design in Babbling Brooke's Cherry Blossom contest. To vote, go here.

The claim is that the manicure will last for 12 days. Well, they did last for 4 days without chipping, I know that, and then I had to remove my manicure since I have many reviews pending :(
But I am so in love with Incoco!!! If only they were available here in India. I have a couple of more colors, and you will be seeing more of them, probably later in the summer <3

P.S. Check out Jade's Giveaway here.
